class47_green_romsey

With the Hymeks becoming increasingly prone to failure, Bristol's Bath Road depot has turned out Class 47 D1641, one of a small number still in original two-tone green livery, to work the diagram which included the 1420 Portsmouth to Bristol on Saturday 22nd April 1972.  It is seen here approaching Romsey past the allottments and Romsey's Home signal protecting the junction.  Note the Southern Electric Commer van parked outside the sub-station.
